Strain gauge

A strain gauge determines the strain or compression of a Measurement object through the change in resistance. A strain gauge consists of a carrier film onto, which a resistance material has been applied in the shape of a meander. This is usually covered by a film to protect it against mechanical damage. The strain gauge is bonded to the body to be measured. The resistance material can be silicon, platinum or constantan, amongst others.
