Guard electrode

The guard electrode, also known as guard ring, encloses the active sensor measuring area of a capacitive Displacement sensor . The guard electrode ensures a homogeneous electrical field up to the edge of the active sensor measuring area - a prerequisite for the capacitive displacement measuring principle.
